Our client, a Global Bank is looking to hire a Relationship Manager for their Commodity Finance Department

 

Principal Purpose of the Job:

Supporting the Deputy Team Head and Head of Department on the portfolio of Commodity Finance (CF).

 

This role is a Corporate Banking, Relationship Manager role. The role is to work as a RM, working across Commodity Finance in support of the Deputy Team Head with responsibility to maintain and build a portfolio of relevant clients/transactions.

 

To work within the Commodity Finance Team with client related administrative and RM duties for existing and prospect clients in a first line of defence capacity, including preparation of transaction proposal credit papers and annual reviews. To manage Post Lending and Pre-Lending duties related to execution and drawdown of financing transactions and initiating and assisting in the Client Due Diligence (CDD) process. The applicant will be proficient in analytical skills to minimize the Bank's credit-related losses by Identifying & measuring credit risks/mitigants. Assist communication of Commodity Finance Team with Credit Risk Department (CRD), CDD & Legal/Compliance Departments as well as other departments as required, maximizing positive support and nurturing cross-departmental relationships.

 

Whilst supporting the strategy of the Team and Department the RM will make clear recommendations to CRD, Credit Committee & Head Office, in accordance with Bank's credit policy. Seek to understand and use policies from Head Office to support business growth.

 

The role will involve monitoring, identifying and reasonably measuring credit risk and income in front office portfolio to comply with credit risk appetite and booking policies. Work with the Business Support Officer (BSO) to facilitate information access to both dedicated credit analysts and RM's and Team/Department Head.

 

To understand and develop sector skill set to efficiently originate and support execution of lending products with emphasis on participations in primary & secondary syndicated corporate loans.

 

The RM will have and will further develop a good understanding of (i) ancillary opportunities and product offerings from the Bank to support attractive relationship returns (ii) other enabling functions to initiate and develop sustainable client franchise including customer due diligence robust loan documentation with assistance from internal or external legal councils, post lending management systems.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the continued development of the Commodity Finance business in line with the Bank’s targets in the role of Relationship Manager.
  • Identify marketing opportunities, undertaking appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, assisting with presentations and pitches for new products and services.
  • Provide general support to the Team & Department Head as required, in servicing client relationships and enhancing income generation.
  • Act as primary point of contact for clients and internal colleagues.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, including working closely with CDD Team for client on-boarding and off-boarding.
  • A working knowledge of the Bank’s systems to include CIMS / GCMS would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager, or as agreed in annual objectives, in support of the Achievement of the business objectives.

 

Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years previous relevant experience in the Commodity Sector within a Banking/Financial Services Institution;
  • Experience in Front Office, client facing role would be preferable;
  • Working knowledge of financial analysis;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Good communicator.
  • Mandarin speaker is preferable but not mandatory.
