The Role
This role sits in the Bank’s Second Line of Defence. The Risk & Control Officer reports to the Risk Manager who has oversight of the Bank’s risks.
Like any other regulated bank, Our Client needs to ensure they are managing their risks effectively, mitigating them with robust and well-designed controls. The role has arisen as the Bank embarks on further projects to develop and enhance its Operational Risk & Control framework.
The successful candidate will work closely with the frontline teams who have ownership of these risks and controls. The candidate will quickly gain insight into the Bank’s risks, the Important Business Services and be able to assess the quality of the controls that underpin each process in the day-to-day operations. Colleagues in the frontline need guidance, so the candidate will require strong stakeholder skills to collaborate with them to build awareness and risk management skills in this area within the Bank.

Candidate Requirements:
Should have worked in financial services, a regulated environment, with some experience and understanding of risk, controls, and/or compliance.
Have experience of working within risk management, incident analysis, risk reporting and control testing.
Have a good understanding of industry risk regulation/standards and practices and are keen to learn more.
Be curious and collaborative - great at asking incisive questions to pick things up, get to the bottom of problems, and act on them quickly.
Be a communicator, able to facilitate discussions, and influence others to gather meaningful feedback and support on your work.
Be able to thrive when managing multiple deadlines through to completion and have excellent attention to detail.
Be resilient and comfortable working in an evolving and challenging environment.
Be hands-on and great at execution.
Be a self-starter and autonomous, able to make prioritisation decisions.
